When I was a child, I always enjoyed traveling to the country and visiting the church where my grandparents were members. One of my favorite memories was the old pump out front. After pushing down on the pump several times, clear, cold water came gushing out, and it was some of the best water that I ever tasted! The reason why the pure water came out of the pump is because there was pure water in the well deep underground to which the pump was connected.
In the same way, that which comes out of our mouths reflects what is deep down inside us. Jesus said: But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man (Matthew 15:18).
When we allow Jesus to work in our hearts by reading His Word, dwelling on it, and repenting of our sin and bitterness, He will cleanse us and fill us with His love. As a result, our mouths will pour forth the things of Christ, and we will be able to share His love with others!
