God is Never Late!

Years ago on a mission trip to Peru, we were traveling through the city known as Ica. The city stands at the footholds on the cool, refreshing Andes Mountains, but Ica lies within a dry and dusty desert. The area long has intrigued both its inhabitants and visitors because of curious wonders such as the Huacachina Oasis and the whale skeletons in the nearby desert that have come to rest miles and miles away the ocean.

While commuting from the Andes Mountains to the capital city of Lima, in Ica I noticed a bumper sticker that read, "God may be late, but He never forgets." Since that day, I have seen the bummer sticker on several vehicles and have heard the summer words uttered from many lips.

Simply put, the statement is wrong. God never is late. Nor is He early. The Lord's timing is perfect, so we must learn to reject our timetables and learn to trust His perfect timing!

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.   (2 Peter 3:9)

3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
               (Proverbs 3:5-6)
