Psalm 57: A Mikhtam of David When He Fled from Saul in the Cave (1 Sam. 24)
Instead of taking Saul's life when he was asleep in the cave, David cut off the corner of his kingly garment.
• Much as David was taking refuge in a cave when Saul sought to kill him, David had learned to take refuge in the LORD (vv. 1-3).
• Although David's enemies had encircled him like a pack of lions, David sought God's glory and realized that the wicked would fall into their own pit (vv. 4-6).
• David's heart was steadfast in his trust of God (vv. 7-10) because the LORD is exalted about the heavens (v. 11).
