Psalm 95: A Praise and a Warning

Psalm 95: Praise to the LORD, and Warning against Unbelief

• The call to sing joyfully to the LORD and come into His presence with thanksgiving (vv. 1-2).

• The reason for praising the LORD is that:

        1) God is King above all gods (v. 3)
        2) God owns the depths of the earth and the mountains (v. 4)
        3) God is the Creator of the sea and the dry land (v. 5).

Because of God's works, the proper response to Him is worship, and people should understand that He is their Shepherd (vv. 6-7a).

• God's people are warned not to harden their hearts against God, for doing so means that they will be punished like the rebellious generation in the wilderness (vv. 7b-11).
