Yesterday we looked at the The Prerequisite for Reaping. Today, we will see that we must keeping on "doing good" even when weariness threatens to overtake us.
6:9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
6:10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
In light of the fact that we will reap if we do not grow weary, there are two things that we must do as ministry opportunities arise:
1. We Must Do Good to All People (6:10)
Some believers do good things for unbelievers such as supplying their physical needs and feel that they have done their duty. Others share the Gospel without filling a hungry belly, and feel that they have accomplished their task. God’s desire is that we supply physical needs as we are able in order to provide an opportunity to share the Gospel (e.g., Jesus feeding the 5,000).
2. We Must Do Good Especially to the Household of Faith (6:10)
Because all believers are members of the family of God, we should be especially ready minister to other believers in order to encourage them and to help them to grow spiritually. Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. (1 Thess. 5:11).
Tomorrow, we will conclude our study of this passage with some contemporary applications for Galatians 6:9-10.
We can be tired, weary and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength. See the link below for more info.
