A Look at the Works and the Word of God in Psalm 19

Psalm 19: The Works and the Word of God (A Psalm of David)

• Psalm 19 praises the works and the Words of God.

• Verses 1-6 focus on general revelation. Both the daytime and nighttime skies declare the work of God's hands not with voices, but by their intricacy and splendor(vv. 1-3). This testimony is not limited to one location, but has gone out across the entire group to every nation and people (vv. 4-6). For this reason, no one has an
excuse not to believe in God:

1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
1:19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God madeit evident to them.
1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. (Rom. 1:18-20)

• Verse 7-14 focus on special revelation. The LORD's teachings are perfect, pure, and last forever (vv. 7-10). Those who obey God's Word will be kept from sin (vv. 11-13), and David prays that the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart will be acceptable to his Rock and Redeemer (v. 14).
