Job 1:1 records four godly characteristics that Job possessed. We would do well to develop these characteristics in our lives!
1) Blameless: A good translation for this term is moral innocence, which also is attributed to Noah (Gen. 6:9). Blamelessness does not mean perfection, but that a believer obeys the Lord and confesses sin quickly when he or she falls into temptation rather than making sin his or her "address."
2) Upright: This refers to one who is honest and righteous in his or her dealings. The way of a guilty man is crooked, but as for the pure, his conduct is upright (Prov. 21:8).
3) Fear of God: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction (Prov. 1:7).
4) Turning away from evil: A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, But a fool is arrogant and careless (Prov. 14:16).
